Last week we began a new system in class whereby we now have class bloggers. This means that every few weeks, the students will volunteer to work on the class blog. They'll write about the things they enjoyed the most. At the moment, our class bloggers are Kansuke, Koshiro and Shu. It's a long process as the students will write a draft of their article, we will edit it together and then it'll be published. So thank you for being patient in waiting for new posts over the last few weeks.

We had such an awesome time last week at our Gallery of Statues! Thank you to all the parents who came to support our students and listen to what they had to say. Check out the photos below and read what some of our students have to say about their experience. The picture above shows a picture of the gallery of statues. I really enjoyed taking part in the Gallery of Statues because i liked to pretend that i was doing a freeze frame. My favourite costume was martin luther the king because it looks good. - Storm My name is min ko naing During the Gallery of Statues, I was presenting to students and teachers also parents He fought for childrens rights My favourite part about presenting was when he won many rewards. My name is Daisy. During the Gallery of Statues, I was Seo Seo-pyeong. I chose this person because I thought she was a great rights fighter. I enjoyed it because so many people came to me and I love presenting to people. If I did this again, I would try to speak with more expression. My favourite part about presenting was that it was quite fun because my lines were interesting. UOI We have been very busy this week indeed! We're coming to the end of our unit on Rights and Responsibilities and for our summative assessment we've chosen a rights activist from our home countries to research. This Thursday, we'll be dressing up as our chosen person and, in character, will be giving a speech to share our learning. As a class, we came up with the following questions to research: Which rights did this person fight for? Why did they fight for these rights? How did they fight for these rights? What changes, if any, did they make? We've enjoyed learning about the people our classmates have researched and we're looking forward to our gallery of statues this Thursday! DAILY 5 Now that we're all set with our Daily 5 routines, we're beginning to set goals for ourselves in writing and reading. If you come into our classroom and see our names on post-it notes on our writing and reading strategies, that's why! Last week and this week we've been looking at word choice, specifically to choose better words and use thesauruses to help us with this. We've also made our own Word Collector books so that if we come across any interesting words when reading, we can write them into our Word Collectors for future use. UOI This week in UOI we have been inquiring into rights in Singapore and rights in our home countries. As the research method, we chose interviews and interviewed family members and friends as well as Singaporeans that work in our school. Now that all the information has been gathered, we will be sorting it out and organising it into a report. As part of our unit on rights and responsibilities, we have also learnt how to solve conflicts between ourselves and have been using the conflict corner to help us with this. This week, we saw how the Conflict Corner works and then we role-played different scenarios demonstrating how to use it. Math We've learnt a lot about place value over the last few weeks and have put our knowledge into a poster to share, not only the greatest number we know, but the different ways we can show it as well. Some of us are now beginning to inquire into new addition and subtraction strategies that we would like to learn while the rest of us will be applying our knowledge of addition and subtraction strategies to help us solve problems. Other Notes Assembly times have now changed for elementary students. They will now take place in Serangoon Hall from 1pm and they will be K - 5. Hi there! Welcome to our class blog. This is where you can find out what we've been getting up to in regards to our life at ISS.
We've spent the last few weeks getting to know each other and getting used to new class routines in G3.1. You can use the tabs at the top of this page to have a look at our student portfolios (coming soon!), information about school timings, our class timetable and homework. On the right hand side of this page, you will be able to view important dates and you'll be able to access other ISS blogs. Please look at them regularly to see what your child is doing in their integrator sessions. |
